WordCamp Bristol 2019

Spread the love

17th – 19th May 2019

@ University of Bristol, School of Chemisty

Last weekend was the second Bristol WordCamp was held over 3 days with the main two days at the University of Bristol. If you’ve been to a WordCamp before then you’ll know that it is so much more than a series of tech talks based around WordPress.

Attendees ranged from small business owners, WordPress developers, marketeers, designers as well as organizers, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers.

Having previously attended WordCamps in Brisbane in 2017 and then London in 2018 I was really looking forward to this one in my hometown.

This year, I decided to get more involved by leading a table on the contributor day and offering some general volunteer support over the weekend.

Volunteer duties ranged from assisting on the reception desk, assisting sponsors, time keeping, social media and introducing the speakers.

The talks this year were on a range of topics some of the highlights I’ve listed below. You can find a full list on the WordCamp Bristol website.

  • Gutenberg | How a WordPress studio adapted
  • Why Multisite? Uses for WordPress Multisite you may not have thought of
  • Build blocks without writing JavaScript
  • Meet Your Friends the Gutenberg Blocks
  • Selling WordPress

It was great to come away from the event with some new knowledge but uppermost the fulfilling feeling of getting involved with a great tech community.
